How do I find my Starlink kit number and serial number?
Your Starlink has three different identification numbers, and they are not interchangeable. The kit serial number is on the shipping label of the original box, the dish serial number is on a label on the hardware itself (where depends on the model), and the Terminal ID is in the Starlink app under Settings, then Advanced. If you bought your kit straight from starlink.com, you do not need to hunt these numbers down.
Sooner or later Starlink asks for an identification number — usually when a kit changes hands, gets moved, or gets set up on a different account. The catch is that there are three different numbers, they live in three different places, and they are not interchangeable. Here is where each one is.
Where is my Starlink kit serial number?
The kit serial number is printed on the shipping label of the original box your Starlink came in. It looks like KIT00000000 — the word KIT followed by a string of digits.
That makes the original box worth keeping, or at least worth photographing before it goes in the trash. If you bought your kit straight from starlink.com, Starlink says this step is not needed.
Where is the serial number on my Starlink dish?
The dish itself carries its own serial number on a hardware label, and the spot depends on which model you have:
- Standard 4 / Standard 4X and Starlink Enterprise: on the back of the dish, near the connector port.
- Starlink Mini: on the bottom left of the kickstand.
- Starlink Standard Actuated / Starlink Performance (Gen 1): on the bottom of the mast.
- Starlink Performance (Gen 2): on the back of the dish, near the connector port.

How do I find my Starlink Terminal ID?
The third number, the Terminal ID, lives in the Starlink app:
- Open the Starlink app.
- Go to Settings, then Advanced.
- Find the ID listed under STARLINK. It looks like 00000000-00000000-00000000.
You can also get there from the app home screen: tap the Menu button in the top left, scroll down, and tap the "i" information bubble to see the details.
One detail that trips people up: when you type this ID in somewhere, leave off the "ut" that appears in front of it. If you get an "Invalid Device ID" error, Starlink's advice is to check that the identifier was entered correctly — and that missing "ut" is the first thing to look at.
Which Starlink number is which?
| Identifier | What it looks like | Where to find it |
|---|---|---|
| Kit serial number | KIT followed by digits, like KIT00000000 | Shipping label on the original box |
| Dish serial number | Varies by model | Label on the dish — back near the connector port, bottom left of the kickstand, or bottom of the mast, depending on the model |
| Terminal ID | Three groups of digits separated by dashes | Starlink app, under Settings, then Advanced, listed under STARLINK |
